    Despite only making up a small portion of the automobile market overall, electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular as automakers increase their performance, style, and range, as well as improve the speed and convenience of charging. Customers looking for zero-emission vehicles now have a large selection of options to select from, with a choice of body styles and price points.

    We’ve gathered them all in one location for your convenience and put them in ascending order of their combined MPGe ratings from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). For good measure, we have also included each one’s city and highway figures. Similar to how traditional gas- or diesel-powered cars, trucks, and SUVs are rated in terms of miles per gallon, an electric vehicle’s efficiency is determined by its MPGe rating. However, a higher MPGe rating doesn’t always translate into a range that is the best in its class. We’ve given you both of these figures so you can pick the ideal EV for your family, way of life, and driving preferences. Please take note that the market’s fuel-cell vehicles, which propulsion themselves with electricity but are fueled by hydrogen, are not included in this list because it only contains EVs that draw their power from the nation’s electrical power system.

    The all-wheel-drive GMC Hummer EV lacks the standard fuel efficiency equivalency and range values the government assigns to electric vehicles marketed in the United States since it is classified by the EPA as a heavy-duty vehicle. The only variant of the car currently on the market, the $112,595 tri-motor Hummer EV Edition 1, has this information, according to documentation GMC supplied to the EPA. By the end of 2022, a less expensive Hummer EV3x will be available. Cheaper dual-motor Hummer EV2x and Hummer EV2 trims will follow in early 2023 and 2024, respectively.

    Rivian R1S — 69 MPGe

    Even though there are many electric SUVs available today, there aren’t many of them with three rows of seating. However, Rivian offers even another selection through its R1S. No, it’s not quite as efficient as, say, the Tesla Model X, but the R1S claims to undercut the huge Tesla SUV’s base pricing by around $30,000 with a starting price that’s only a little south of $80,000. With Rivian planning to begin manufacturing the R1S with the less expensive Explore package the following year (all 2022 Rivians come equipped with the $5500 Adventure package), that gap should grow in the future as well.

    The R1S can also cover 316 miles according to the EPA, thanks to its huge 135.0-kWh battery pack, when fully charged.

    Rivian R1T — 70 MPGe

    Rivian’s R1T pickup vehicle goes well with its R1S SUV. The R1T includes a 135.0-kWh battery pack as standard equipment, just like its SUV counterpart. The truck’s range is anticipated to increase to more than 400 miles in 2023 thanks to a larger battery pack with a capacity of 180.0 kWh. The 2022 R1T now maintains a reasonable driving range of 314 miles on a full charge.

    Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo — 76 MPGe

    The Taycan EV series from Porsche now offers a waggon body variant. The off-road-oriented waggon, known as the Taycan Cross Turismo, features a raised ride height, more body cladding, and standard dual-motor all-wheel drive. The Taycan Cross Turismo does not include the sedan’s standard 79.2-kWh battery pack. Instead, only the 93.4-kWh unit with a greater capacity is included with the waggon. As a result, the base Taycan 4 Cross Turismo has a range of 215 miles, which is 15 miles greater than the standard Taycan sedan’s more energy-efficient rating. While the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo’s maximum 469 horsepower should be plenty for the majority of purchasers, the vehicle is also offered in more potent 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S trims, each of which has a maximum output of 562, 670, and 750 horsepower.

    Jaguar I-Pace — 76 MPGe

    For the 2022 model year, Jaguar’s first electric vehicle receives a minor modification. Unfortunately, the EPA estimates for the 2022 I-Pace remain a mystery. The range and efficiency numbers for the pre-facelift I-Pace are therefore included (we’ll update these numbers as soon as the EPA announces those for the 2022 I-Pace). Jaguar only provides the car in EV400 form. As a result, the 90.0-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and two electric motors (one at each axle) that provide a powerful 394 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque are standard equipment for the all-wheel-drive electric SUV. As a result, an SUV is produced that can accelerate to 60 mph in under five seconds.

    Audi e-tron Sportback — 77 MPGe

    A more streamlined variant of the e-tron SUV is the Audi e-tron Sportback. The two-row electric SUV with five seats weighs 5819 pounds, which is close to 100 pounds more than our long-term Ram 1500. Even so, it still moves more quickly than the large half-ton truck. Due to the e-tron Sportback’s two motors’ combined peak output of 402 horsepower (one at each axle), a 5.1-second zero-to-60 time is possible. The Audi’s 95.0-kWh lithium-ion battery pack is largely responsible for its weight. The EPA estimations for the e-tron Sportback are marginally worse than those for the basic model, with a predicted range of 218 miles on a full charge.

    Audi e-tron — 78 MPGe

    For those who need more cargo room, Audi’s all-wheel-drive e-tron SUV is also offered in a boxier configuration. Two electric motors (one at each axle) and a huge 95.0-kWh lithium-ion battery pack work together to produce a maximum of 402 horsepower and 490 pound-feet of torque. Sadly, the Audi’s range of 222 miles isn’t all that amazing. Nevertheless, the e-tron is at least fairly speedy, reaching 60 mph in a stated 5.5 seconds.

    Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo — 80 MPGe

    Want the Taycan Cross Turismo’s functionality without the SUV-like body cladding? The electrified Porsche for you is the Taycan Sport Turismo. The $134,650 Taycan Sport Turismo, which is only available in 590-hp GTS form, is both the best-looking and most effective Taycan waggon trim, at least in our perspective. The Sport Turismo has an EPA-rated range of 233 miles thanks to its 80 MPGe combined, which is 18 miles longer than the Taycan Cross Turismo with the greatest range.

    EPA combined range is 233 miles, with combined/city/highway fuel efficiency of 80/80/80 MPGe.

    Audi e-tron GT — 82 MPGe

    The Audi e-tron GT is an electric sports car that has an estimated fuel efficiency of 82 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent). MPGe is a measure used to compare the energy efficiency of electric and hybrid vehicles with traditional gasoline-powered vehicles.

    In the case of the e-tron GT, its 82 MPGe rating means that it can travel as far on the same amount of energy as a traditional gasoline-powered car would travel on 82 miles per gallon of gasoline. However, it’s important to note that the e-tron GT’s energy consumption will depend on various factors, including driving style, weather conditions, and terrain.
